we’re moved in!
i’m so freakin’ excited, y’all have no idea! there is still tons to do, like make a toy chest/doggie food dispenser/bench for the living area and a bunk bed/closet for monkey, but we’re slowly settling in and finding a place for everything.
i have to admit – we were so sure we donwsized lots before the move. but truckful after truckful of stuff to either get donated, disposed off, or stored at j’s parent’s garage, was, to put it very gently and mildly, troubling. this move has really opened our eyes to just how greedy we are as a society.
we’re hoarders of junk even if we tell ourselves we’re not.
for example, my closet was about 3/4 full…i then donated about 4-5 large garbage bags of old clothes, shoes, bags, scarves, (etc)…yet, i still managed to go to the MH with 1 overstuffed suitcase and a bin full of shoes/boots i use throughout the year. unfortunately in light of how little space we truly have for all 3 of us, i have to cut down my clothes again just to fit into the small closet we’ll all be sharing *ahem*
this leaves me with about -
- 4 pairs of jeans
- about 10 shirts (tees, tanks, moto jerseys, dress shirts)
- 1 pair of shorts,
- 1 pair of jogging shorts & 1 pair of running capris,
- 1 pair of flannel sweatpants (i refuse to let these go – when it gets cold, these are the comfiest thing ever!),
- 6 hoodies/sweaters,
- 1 winter jacket,
- 1 spring/fall vest,
- 1 rain jacket, and
- an assortment of undies & socks
don’t even get me started on shoes -
- 1 pair of birkenstocks sandals,
- 1 pair of converse sneakers,
- 1 pair of leather boots,
- 1 pair of knee high boots,
- 1 pair of wedge sandals,
- 1 pair motocross boots & 1 pair of riding sneakers,
- 1 pair of heavy duty winter boots, and
- 1 pair of work boots
and here i was feeling smug about the amount i downsized prior to the move
i’m not complaining, please don’t get me wrong, i’m just so much more aware of just how much we have and how truly lucky we are. a lot of things have been put into perspective for us this past weekend.
on a brighter note, we’re feeling so light and optimistic about our future; we’re excited to travel, to spend time together as a family, to live a simpler life…i’m gathering tons of inspirational photos on my pinterest board for ideas on simplicity, organizing the MH, food, places to go, and so forth…check it out here
we have a camping trip coming up in 2 weeks so we’re on a deadline to get a bit of the interior done + make sure all the amenities are in working order before hand.
so dear readers, who else is taking an exciting leap forward with their lives?
