About Raspberry Dark Chocolate Banana Bread
Though this seems a bit fancier than your average quick banana bread, its made with very simple, basic ingredients and minimal effort is required.
The dark chocolate and raspberries add such decadent and fancy-feeling touches, but the base of the recipe itself is really not so different from any other easy chocolate chip banana bread recipe.
The raspberries also create these amazingly sweet, delicious little moisture pockets in every bite, without adding any refined sugar or oil; that's usually how you get sweetness and/ or moisture in recipes.
So... decadent, easy, delicious, wholesome... you in?
Making your Healthy Raspberry Chocolate Chip Banana Bread
Like the majority of recipes on The Granola Diaries, this recipe requires one bowl, one mixing utensil (in this case just a basic fork!), and less than 10 minutes to prepare.
Start by mashing your bananas in a large bowl. Add in the wet ingredients and give it a good stir. Fold in the dry ingredients, and viola! Banana Bread Batter!
You could even do this step in a blender to skip the hand mixing.
Lastly, to make this Banana Bread really special, you fold in your raspberries and dark chocolate chips, and even oats, if you'd like. Save some for sprinkling on top before baking, too.
Its important to use good chocolate in this recipe. These are some of my favorite Dark Chocolate Chips, which are also dairy free and soy free.
Can I make this recipe Vegan?
This recipe can absolutely be made into a Healthy Vegan Banana Bread recipe! It is already Dairy Free, so no need to worry about replacing butter or milk, like a lot of Banana Bread recipes usually call for.
However, this recipe does contain Eggs, which are not vegan. To make it Vegan friendly, simply replace the 2 eggs with 2 Flax Eggs.
Mix 2 tablespoon of Ground Flax Seed with 6 tablespoon of room temperature in a small bowl. Mix well. Allow that to sit for at least 5 minutes in the fridge, and it will form a thick, gel-like texture. Simply add that to your batter when you add the eggs!
Plant based with an extra boost of Omega-3s! Winning!
Ingredients in this Dark Chocolate Raspberry Loaf
Oats / Oat Flour: A household favorite on the blog! Oats are naturally gluten free, full of fiber, and super affordable, compared to other "health" flours. I love to buy a big bag of Rolled Oats and make my own.
Bananas: Naturally, as this is Banana Bread. For baked goods, usually the browner your bananas, the better. This is because the starches turn to sugar as the bananas ripen, so you will be left with a sweeter bread, without needing to add extra sugar!
Dark Chocolate: Good for the soul, and also secretly full of health benefits too, like antioxidants and lowering blood pressure (Source). Make sure you use good, high quality chocolate!
Raspberries: Also full of antixidants and fiber, and just taste sooo good with the banana and dark chocolate flavors in this recipe! Feel free to sub these for your favorite berry - blueberries and blackberries would also be delicious here.

Is this a Snack? Or a Breakfast? Or snack or dessert?
Why limit yourself? It can be all 3! It's quite healthy and refined sugar free, so it can provide a nourishing breakfast without a sugar crash. At the same time, it is decadent and delicious enough to be a dessert.
If you want to eat this Raspberry Banana Bread for breakfast, maybe top it with some nut butter or Greek yogurt, for some extra protein.
To enjoy for dessert, maybe try a drizzle of warm honey or even extra melted dark chocolate on top, to really take it to the next level.
You really can't go wrong here. It's so delicious and perfect on its own as well!
